Still Trying!

I was finally able to get my computer to the internet cafe in hopes that I would be able to upload pictures for everyone! I can't believe that you guys have not seen ANY pictures yet!! I am frustrated with you! So, I got here and was on my way to upload the pictures and things were looking so promising but it is just taking FOREVER to upload them! I will definitley be trying again next week! If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

So much has been going on lately and I have so much to fill you all in on but I think since we have rapidly approached another month, I will save all the updates for my newsletter! I am planning on sending the newsletter off next week!

Okay, friends, unfortunately I have to go, Elf and I have grocery shopping to do! I love you all so much and miss you dearly!

Until next time!

Dear Shayla, Last week Christina sent me your blog web site, and I just completed reading it. You are an amazing and blessed young woman, to be able to call up your physical and mental strength, with the help of the Lord, and give of yourself to those Kenyans who needs are so great. Of course I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and hope you keep well since there is such a need for one like you. I admire and respect you deeply, and feel honored to be one of your many cousins. I'm not very computer literate, but hope I can get this sent off to you. Do you just have a plain old email address? Here goes...Love, Mary (Colburn) LeMieux

Hey Shayla! This is Miriam from AIM. I have been thinking about you the last few days and wondering how life is treating you in Africa. I was going to e-mail you, but realizing how precious your time is, I decided to help myself to your updates here. Wow! It sounds like you are adjusting so well. I'm glad you and Elf have hit it off. How's your house? Is it a home yet? Can't wait for those pictures whenever they decide to work out for you!

God's Peace--
Miriam

Shayla,

Elf's Dad here again. I have been pondering your problem of uploading pictures. It is probably because the access you have is ADSL, the A in ADSL means Asynchrynous which means your upload speed is much slower than your download speed. The trick may be to edit your pictures and reduce their size. If you have Microsoft Picture Manager (or something similar) edit the pictures you want to upload and go to Tools>Resize or Tools>Compress and reduce the size of your picture(remember to save the edited pic under a different name so you don't lose the original). If you cut the picture down to 1/4 the original dimensions it should upload 16 times faster. So instead of 32 minutes you should do it in 2 minutes. Elf may be able to help with this.

God bless, Don

Shayla,

Opps, Don here again. In Picture Manager the resize commands you want are under the Picture menu not the Tools Menu, I.e. Picture>resize or Picture>compress

Shayla,

Awesome photos ... my favorite one of course is of the kids! They look so happy! And your commentary on the storm ... oh, my goodness! You have a future as a writer. Keep listening to God and journal it all! Thanks for sharing....
